Are the ingredients in the Neutrogena
Rapid Clear range environmentally safe and skin friendly safe?
Yes, the ingredients in the Rapid Clear range are quite safe
and friendly.
Hi! Quick question; can I use
Neutrogena Rapid Clear Spot-Eliminating Gel together with
sunscreen at the same time? I usually put the gel on first,
wait for a while, and then use the sunscreen. Is that ok?
Will it take away the benefits of the product? Or clog my
pores? Thank you.
Yes, it’s ok. But avoid sunscreens that are not oil
free.
Hi, I was wondering if there
is an easy way to get rid of acne? Because I get it a lot
and face creams don’t seem to work. Sometimes they even
make it worse. I have been put on tablets (take twice daily),
but I was wondering if there was an easier way to that would
definitely work.
Isotretinoin is a possibility if other methods have failed,
however you will need to see your GP about this treatment,
as it requires a prescription.
Please could you suggest something
to finally clear my skin up? I would love to have just one
day without redness, bumps and pimples.
If your problem has been longstanding and the topical agents
have not worked, you may require advice from a dermatologist
who can discuss further management options. Your skin would
have to be professionally examined. You will need a referral
to a dermatologist from your GP.
Hi, I was wondering what ingredient
the new range contains - salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide,
or something else?
The Rapid Clear range contains salicylic acid.
My face appears to have pigmentation
(white spots). What can I do to get rid of them so my skin
goes back to how it used to be?
There are many causes of white spots. One of the most common
is dryness. First try a non-comedogenic moisturiser to see
if the colour returns. If not, see your GP.
How can I reduce scarring? Are
there products out there that help? And what do skin peels
do? Are they effective?
Peels are not effective in reducing scarring and in some cases
may irritate the skin. Scarring can be reduced by avoiding
picking and squeezing the areas. Get onto a form of treatment
as quickly as possible for the problem to reduce scarring.
Once scarring exists there are no topical products to treat
this effectively except laser therapy (however this is quite
expensive).
Is there a product I can use
to get rid of red blemishes and pigmentation from acne scarring?
Time will effectively reduce the scars. There are no products
to effectively do this except expensive treatments with laser.
I don't have pimples, but I
suffer badly from blackheads. Can Neutrogena products help?
The problem is worse under and around my eyes, they seem to
be puffy with a lot of grease deposits.
Neutrogena products can be a good start. If not successful,
adapalene gel may be effective. This is prescription product
so you will need to see your GP.
I was just wondering if you can use the new Neutrogena Rapid Clear Spot Eliminating
Gel if you don’t have acne, but just have a few pimples here and there,
and just want to keep your skin as blemish-free as you can?
Response
Yes, Neutrogena Rapid Clear Spot Eliminating Gel is great
to use for those occasional spots.
After I came back from camp
I got severe Seborrhoeic dermatitis on my face. Its oozes
and creates an orange crust over the patches. It is currently
under control because the doctor prescribed a cream for me
to use for 2 weeks. But I still have to use it everyday otherwise
it starts to ooze and crust again. How can I fully cure this
dermatitis and be able to stop using the cream?
It sounds like you need to see a dermatologist to examine
your skin and give you advice on further treatment and prevention.
See your GP for a referral to a dermatologist.
I've had really deep pores and
blackheads on my nose and chin since I can remember but I
don’t know how to get rid of them. Any suggestions?
Use an acne cleanser, and then adapalene gel at night. You
will need to see your GP about the adapalene gel as this is
a prescription product.
I have some scars from all the
pimples over the years I would like to know how to get rid
of them or at least make them less visible?
The only effective way to eradicate scarring from acne is
laser therapy. This is expensive. Time always improves acne
scarring but it is a gradual process.
I've noticed that a lot of cleanser
products advise you to rinse your face with 'warm' or 'lukewarm'
water. Is the temperature of the water important to achieve
results? I usually just use cold water.
If your face is oily, then warm water is better. If you have
a dry skin tendency however, then cold water is better.
I'm currently trying to get
pregnant and ever since I have stopped taking the pill I have
broken out in acne. What can I safely use to help?
Use the Neutrogena Rapid Clear products or Neutrogena Oil-Free
Acne Wash. No tablets are safe, nor are topical antibiotics
or adapalene. (You should not use medications unless advised
by a doctor or pharmacist while pregnant).
I am 26 and still get a lot
of acne. I get it mainly around my chin area. I have tried
everything I can, and am willing to try more. I am getting
married in 10 months and the only wish I have is for my skin
to clear up for my big day. Please help me.
Your best option is to be referred to a dermatologist (by
your GP) and get professional advice regarding treatment.
Do it now to give time for the treatment to work. This usually
takes about 6 months.
What moisturiser do you recommend
using with the Neutrogena Rapid Clear range?
Any light non-comedogenic or oil-free moisturiser with an SPF.
I have acne around my jaw line
and under my chin. I have tried different products and they
are ok for my face but they irritate my neck. Can you suggest
anything?
The same products can often be tolerated by diluting them
with an oil-free moisturiser.
My 14-year-old daughter has
had problem skin since she was 11. Her face has gotten a bit
better but she has a lot of trouble with blackheads and lumps
on her arms and all over her back. She won't wear bathers
without a shirt or even tops that show her back. What is the
best way to tackle this problem? As it really affects her
confidence and self esteem which is very sad to see. Thanks
for your help.
To ensure your daughter gets the right treatment it is best
for her to see your GP for an initial consultation, and the
GP may feel that she requires a referral to a dermatologist.
I actually wanted to know if
you’re able to help me with my skin problem. I have
red veins in my cheeks (apparently I inherited them from my
grandmother), which are really horrible, & I often use
a heavy/ thick foundation on my cheeks everyday in order to
just to try and cover them up. But nine times out of ten I’m
just not successful in covering them. I’d really like
to know if there is something I can do or get done in order
to get rid of these veins??? Any help you can give me will
be very much appreciated!
It sounds like you require vascular laser therapy. This is
performed by some dermatologists. Check before you make an
appointment. You will require a GP referral to a dermatologist,
and several sessions of the therapy may be necessary.
Hi there! I just wanted to know
if there was something I could use for oily skin. I have tried
so many different products and nothing seems to work for me.
Could you suggest something that is cost-effective and really
does work? Thank you.
Oily skin is genetic, however in time will settle. The only
products to help reduce oil production are products in the
retinoid range i.e. Tretinoin therapy applied at night. See
your GP about this therapy, as it requires a prescription.
Do you guys have any suggestion
about how to treat skin fungal infections quickly? I have
been trying everything.
Firstly make sure that what you have is a fungal infection.
Go and see your GP to make sure. Effective treatments are
readily available. Many conditions look similar and won't
respond to antifungal therapy.
I have open pores and I don’t
know what the best method is to try and close them.
This is usually a genetic condition and often is associated
with oily skin. I would suggest the use of a Tretinoin cream
at night. You will need to see your GP about this cream, as
it is a prescription product.
What products would you recommend
that are best for acne-prone skin? My skin is a bit sensitive
as well, and I feel nothing is working on it.
If you have sensitive skin the usual products will tend to
irritate your skin. However they may be tolerated if diluted
with a non-perfumed non-oily moisturiser. If not see a GP
for further advice.
What can I do to the scar on
my face that was caused by pimples?
The only effective way to eradicate scarring from acne is laser therapy, however
this is expensive. Time always improves acne scarring but it is a gradual process.
